We propose that only half the money raised from each campaign be distributed immediately. The other half will be invested to provide an income in perpetuity. This means that half of every pound donated will keep making a positive contribution forever. In time we would hope to have a sufficient income from the capital we grow to establish a Friends Can Foundation that will influence and support in specific areas.

We will invite applications from groups and individuals for support. Friends Can will support causes where there is demonstrable hardship, or where support will enable individuals and organisations to achieve specific aims for the communties they serve, thus improving people’s lives. Capital bids will be required to demonstrate how ongoing support for initiatives will be provided to ensure embedded long-term solutions. A formal process for funds allocation will be established.

In the medium term we intend that, through our website and at the point of donation, supporters can influence where their support is directed, for example by identifying specific fund-raising themes.
